Herb's Toy Box

Hello! This is the web site for Herb Klug (pronounced Kloog).   My home is in Palm Coast, Florida, about 25 miles north of Daytona Beach on Florida's sunny east coast.

I created this site to share my hobby interests with others and perhaps even make a few new friends.  Come on in and look around.  Hopefully you'll find something you like here.  Thanks for visiting and come back again!

Optical Illusions!

Who doesn't enjoy the mind-bending unreality of optical illusions?  Your mind actually argues with your eyes!

Think About It...
Isn't having a smoking section in a restaurant just like having a peeing section in a swimming pool?

Herb's Virtual Garage
Did you ever meet someone with a funny name? Maybe you even had to supress a laugh when you heard it! (Imagine my reaction when I met a bank teller named Robin Hood!)

Back in the '90's Some friends and I started inventing funny names just to inject a little humor into our days.  Yeah, we had a lot of laughs, but the names were soon forgotten I soon realized that just like everything else, I had to write down these names to remember them, and that was the genesis for the list you'll see here.

Names like Rusty Steele... Phil O. Dendron... Paige Turner... Rick O'Shea... Eileen Wright... just to name a few.

So click on the link and prepare to have your phunny bone tickled!

Here I am, in my '60's, just 'learning' how to cook.  Oh, I could always 'get by' in the kitchen, but good cooking is more than 'getting by.'  Good cooking is marinating, seasoning, sauteing, and understanding how what you are doing affects the dish when it's done.  No, you can't call me Emeril yet, but I am getting better.

I have some favorite recipes which get requested a lot, and I'll post them here.  Give them a try.  Who knows: Maybe you'll like one or two!

My life-long passion has been admiring and learning as much as I can about all kinds of cars and trucks.  (And 'learning' includes hands-on dirty, too.)

The neat thing about a love affair with cars and trucks is I get to scratch that itch every day when I climb behind the wheel to go to work.  I've got well over a million miles behind me, and I still can't wait for the next drive.

Herb's Virtual Garage is my way to share my interest in this area with others, and also help preserve some automotive historical information which tends to fade away over time.  So come on in, and look around.  If you are so inclined, send an e-mail to let me know what you think of it.  There is an e-mail link at the bottom of each page.

Computer Tips

Coinucopia
When I was a kid I heard about my ancestors, butólike most kidsóI never paid much attention.  When I got into my '50's it became much more important to me.  By writing down what I knew, asking a lot of questions of my father before he passed, and getting lucky on the internet, I've put a lot of leaves on the old family tree.  Right now it's about as complete as I can make it - unless I hire History's Detectives to take it further.

Family names you'll see at this site are KLUG, FOX, VanWAGNER, ROBB, WILLIAMS, NAY, and McINTOSH.  Feel free to visit a while and get to know our families.  Send me an e-mail if you see something interesting!  The e-mail link is at the bottom of each page.

Sometimes I run across a computer tip which turns out to be very helpful to me.  As I find them, I'll post them here. Since I was in my early teens, I have been interested in collecting affordable, regular-issue 20th Century US circulating coins.  I've learned much about that hobby (and still have much more to learn), and want to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others.  I hope these pages will be of interest to coin collectors of all ages and experience.

What you'll find at Coinucopia is information about each 20th Century circulating coin series, some pictures, and some charts that show the mintage of the series by year and mint.  The charts are designed to show the relative rarity of the different coins within the series.
